Novels:

Damsel Knight:

Sometimes the best knight is a damsel.

In a world where women are seen as weak, defenceless creatures for men to protect and own, one orphan girl wants to be different. She dreams of being a knight. Slaying dragons, taking down armies with her father’s sword. Only her foster parents don’t agree with her views. On the night of her betrothal to a man over twice her age, the King’s soldiers come to their tiny village, and in the chaotic aftermath she’s left with a choice. Go back to life she knows and marry a man she despises, or journey onward and risk death to earn the knighthood she dreams of.

The road forward isn’t a safe one for a girl travelling with only her foster brother as company. Magic lurks in dark places. Vengeance burrows deep in many equally dark hearts. And all around the circle armies are gathering to defend the Kingdom against a threat that has not been seen in a thousand years.

Crystal Wolves Series:

Moon Madness: (book one):

A human raised by werewolves struggles to find his place in the world.

Heir to the biggest werewolf pack in England, and still human at seventeen, Roy has to face the idea that he may never turn and take on the role he’s been raised for. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to act the passive human. No way.

So when the last of their friends turns, and turns his back on them, Roy decides this is it. Their last chance to see what werewolf training is like. Dragging Clem; his last unturned friend along for the ride they sneak into the depths of the New Forest where the newly turned struggle to control their bloodthirsty instincts.

Bad idea. Really really bad idea.

Moon madness is around seven thousand words of paranormal humor. It’s the first book in a long line of planned stories exploring Roy’s adventures through the Crystal Wolves world. The next book ‘Blood Trail’ is out now.

Blood Trail (book 2):

A human raised by werewolves struggles to find his place in the world.

Once heir to the biggest werewolf pack in England, now kicked out by his pack after failing to make the change into wolf, Roy is still getting used to this being a human thing. Fast cars are a plus, and he still gets to hang with the friendly neighbourhood witches, but his home isn’t his home anymore. His life was back there, along with his best friend Clem who he hasn’t seen in weeks.

So when he opens the trunk of the car he ‘borrowed’ to find it drenched in blood, he’s determined this is something he can do. He may not be a werewolf, but humans solve these kinds of things all the time, right? And with no one else about to look for whoever was in that trunk, he’s it. Their last hope.

Now if only he can figure out why the pack seems so set on stopping him.

Blood Trail is around 32,000 words of paranormal humour. It’s the second in the Crystal Wolves series. The third book should be available in 2016.

Sage:

Summer knows three things: Julian Lockheart is the hottest boy ever, her mother values work and appearances more than her children, and ghosts aren’t real. Only she’s not so sure anymore about the last one.
Things are finally starting to go right. She’s going to the devotion concert with Julian, who actually seems to LIKE her! It almost makes up for being dragged to some lame funeral of a grandmother she’s never met. That’s until she starts hallucinating said grandmother everywhere. Being a teenager is hard enough without dead relatives telling you what to do.
There are bigger things at play. A bomb is about to explode, and Summer is the only one who can stop it. Only to do so she’ll have to trust her instincts and risk the popularity she’s spent so long cultivating. One thing’s for sure: Destiny sucks.

Sage is a twenty thousand word long fantasy novella.

(This was the original short story that inspired the Crystal Wolves series. The Crystal Wolves series starts with Moon Madness when Roy is seventeen and still very human. I kinda love him this way though, so zero guarantees he’ll ever get this dream ending and turn. View it as an alternative universe story, or worse, a dream that Roy will wake from screaming because he knows it’ll never come true.)

Hi Sam. Just been looking through your work. What an amazing treasure trove I have found! I was referred to your page this week as I was hoping to find something relating to ASD. Just wondered if you would be able to email me please?

    • Sure, could you give me your email address? Or you could contact me on the email in my profile and ‘about me’ page. I have one article written on autism at the moment that focuses on autism and creativity, though I do have plans to write more in the future. Look forward to hearing from you.
